Wow, I am SO behind. However, this is a look at the beginning lace class I took a few weeks ago. The good news is that the teacher is following up with another class, so maybe my next piece won’t look so bad! ha h
First, I want to thank Linda with the Rocky Mountain Lace Guild – who set up the classes and who made all of the paper bobbins – when I heard “paper bobbins” I had no idea what to expect, but look at how pretty these are:
Then we got our kits, which is a board and some thread and we started:
I haven’t had the guts to take mine off the board yet, but it’s a bookmark – with holes in it (ha ha) which come from “missing” stitches. it’s fun, but there’s definitely a rhythm to it where if you lose track or swap a thread it creates a hole – she’s offering a second class and I’m hoping it comes a little easier. there are only a few basic stitches, but the amazing things you can do with them:
Gorgeous!! Isn’t it? But look at all those bobbins – my mind boggles at being able to keep them all straight!
Here are a few more examples and the beginning lace books she suggested were The Torchon Lace Workbook (which you can see at the bottom of the picture above) and Beginning Bobbin Lace .
I’ll let you all know if I get my piece off the board! ha ha!
