Doing the Turkey – the turkey work! Woo hoo

Somehow that should be a song, shouldn’t it? Anyway, I bought this totally cute little crewel project at an estate sale – I have a brazilian embroidery project to do that includes Turkey work and was warned off of it (and this is from some AMAZING stitchers). So, you know me, I had to have a go. First, I did the basics.

Then I watched the video:

Here’s my attempt at turkey work. Not bad. I have to say I LOVE crewel, it’s so forgiving. I think I’m headed to ebay to get another project! 🙂

So, now who can tell me why it’s called “turkey work”?
