One of those days I give up as a Mom

So, I kept the kids home from school today. I was pretty sure Matey Moo had an ear infection (hunch confirmed) and so he’s now on antibiotics) but before we could start our day (still in jammies, no breakfast, call made to school for absence), the cat ran hacking across the living room. Yep, this is the adorable little kitten I’ve been bragging about.

Well, to make a VERY long story short, he ate a needle and thread. The needle lodged in his throat (none of this did I know until we got him to the vet). I spotted the string hanging out of his mouth and pulled on it (which you’re not supposed to do but I was hoping it was just inside his mouth).

Somehow he had broken off the tip of the needle and it’s still lodged near his sinuses. They decided it was better to leave it than to keep going in and trying to dig it out.

So, he’s home…sleeping…we’re poorer, but heavens what a HUGE scare. Please put all your needles away friends! This is our second cat scare – the first wasn’t sewing related – but of course I feel personally responsible or this. So, learn from my mistake!

Oh, and I’m sharing the kids VERY bad cold…probably karmic justice.
