Projects for 2012

Projects for 2012

This post has taken me longer than I originally thought it would – making goals and organizing my year has become a yearly goal, but this year I’m looking back and my fiber art really took an interesting turn. I’ve had some time to evaluate and have really loved a lot of the projects I’ve worked on, but I don’t feel I’ve been focused at all.

This year I really hope to round out and use my talents. I think because of the “holes” in my knowledge – there are often “holes” (real and figurative) in my work.

I’ve held off finishing several projects because of a lack of knowledge. Some might say to have someone else finish it, but I sort of feel like that’s cheating.

So, here’s my plan. I’m doing the following projects this year:

Sewing lessonsfrom a book I picked up, “Stitch by Stitch” (the author has agreed to answer questions if I get stuck – ha ha).

TAST – to learn more stitches and make me use them on a few projects I haven’t finished – primarily the butterfly pillow and the fairy wall hanging – if I can finish those I’ll be thrilled! 🙂

Book Reviews – I read – a LOT – I love to read about sewing and quilts and embroiderers and such and now I have a place for my reviews. What to call this feature? Hmmm, no idea, but I want to make it weekly – which may mean going back and reviewing books I’ve raed, but more often than not I finish at least a book a week, so we’ll see. Thoughts on a title? I’m also going to set a new overall goal for Goodreads – I was a bit high this year, but I want to make it next year.

Last but not least are the rest of my little UFO’s – I like having small projects, so I’ll probably rotate in extra little stitchy projects – they’re good in front of the TV and a fun break from big projects.

Persist – my word of the year 2018
