Tacky glue and tacky tape – I digress for a week on Tacky Tuesday

When I do my searches for Tacky Craft Tuesday, the most popular result is this little “number”….tacky glue. I have also run across tacky tape (which I have NO idea what is…enlighten me readers). I have to say. ICK!

Ok, I’m biased. I have no idea why you need glue – except to fix broken pottery or a broken chair (note the word “broken”) can’t you sew or find some other way to attach things?
In crazy quilting, there are no rules…ok, one. One that I know of. And the only rule is NO GLUE! Ever! This isn’t to say that rule isn’t broken, but there is a snobbery against gluing anything when you could sew it or attach it otherwise. It just looks and feels icky.
Now, I work with fabric, so for the most part, glue feels nasty on fabric and I avoid it. I can see if you worked with paper that might be different (although I have gotten out the needle and thread with paper as well).
I admit, I’m being a snob here (but isn’t “Tacky Craft Tuesday” kind of snobby by nature?), but is there a connection between tacky crafts and tacky glue?
