Day 4: Your favorite book…are you serious?

If you read my blog at all – AND happen to follow me on Goodreads (which I can’t say enough good about by the way) – you’ll know I’m a HUGE book lover. HUGE! Massive! Like I can’t imagine NOT having a book to read.  According to my records from there, I’ve ready 44 novels since January, so that’s an average of 4 and a half novels a month (if you don’t include Jane Austin which took me longer to read – so probably 5ish).

Like most voracious readers, I go through different genre stints – I’ve read all but one Jane Austen at this point (including the fabulous Jane Austen’s sewing box, which is you sew is a fabby companion), I LOVE characterization, so I adore novels about people – mostly women, definitely history, even better if it’s textile history, with characterizations and a bit of regular history (like Sandra Dallas or Jennifer Chiaverini). I like fun quick mysteries. I love the classics.

Maybe it’s just easier to say what I don’t read. I usually don’t read science fiction (despite my hubby MAKING me read “Brave New World” – which is more of a classic than a sci fi novel I think AND despite my love of Science Fiction in TV and movies – go figure). I read old horror only – like the old Stephen Kings. However, I don’t read much horror these days – I think I find it hard since having kids.

I’m not fond of “real-crime”. So there, that’s really all I won’t read.

The rest could all be termed my favorite books – and I rate them on Goodreads if you want to know my “5 stars”! 🙂

I just posted on Facebook today:

“The person, be it gentleman or lady, who has not pleasure in a good novel, must be intolerably stupid.” – Jane Austen (Northanger Abbey)
That pretty much sums it up for me. What’s your favorite book?
