UFO’s to the non-stitchy are “unfinished objects” and yes, I have MANY of them. However, these (with the exception of the lesson at the top) are a bit of an eye opener. Most are SO close to finishing I just need to get off my tushie. A few have technical issues.
However, in going through my blog (with it’s now 5 year history) I realize I need to start finishing stuff.
This first piece is from the last RMCQ meeting – we did some new silk ribbon embroidery techniques. The little purple flowers are my favorite, but I learned how to do the leaf and the petal flower with a sort of a rouching technique. Very pretty and very simple!
I’m looking forward to applying these new SRE techniques to several projects that are in the works – so stay tuned for that.
Yes, the infamous 1970’s crewel piece is coming along. I have a bit more of the leaves in the upper left corner to finish, the coleus and then shelves and drapes. The sad thing is I’ve run out of maroon crewel embroidery thread (for the coleus), so I’m going to have to make a journey to go buy some more. Sigh. Oh well – I really am enjoying this and will probably work some crewel into future pieces.
AND THE CATS….yes, it’s almost finished! Why isn’t it finished you may ask? Because I can’t measure! ha ha! This is where my hatred of sewing machines rears it’s ugly head. Getting the sashing even and looking good has been a nightmare (esp since the blocks aren’t perfectly measured). So, it really has maybe a few hours work left, but I’d have to develop patience. Wish for me to get some and I’ll get it out and finish it.
And yes (sorry Tina!) – this is still in the works too. Why is it stalled? Because I hate her face. I need to fix the embroidery. So, it’s hanging on the wall, taunting me with it’s “you could finish this” phase. All that’s needed? Face, some more SRE (I”m going to work in some columbines) a few other touches and then to put the whole thing together. I have it all worked out in my mind…I just have to finish it. (story of my life, eh?).
On this note, I’m off to run errands and catch up my “day job” work today – then this weekend is cleaning and stitching. Maybe there will be some fantastic progress to report (that’s what this blog is all about). I keep seeing “calls for entries” and I have to laugh because I’d have to FINISH SOMETHING! Ugh. I’ll get it done. I promise.
