Life from Scratch – a book tour

I am thrilled to be on a tour for “Life from Scratch” by blogger Melissa Ford (Stirrup Queens).

My first confession, is that I’ve only NOW subscribed to Melissa’s blog and frankly when I read the story I thought it was pretty much another “Julie & Julia” redo.

Not to burst that bubble, but the character isn’t real (gasp!) and while based somewhat on Melissa’s life and experiences as a blogger, the story is not about her, or her blog.  I’m a HUGE lover of “chick-lit”, although I think that category is kind of “thrown-around these days. All in all, I really enjoyed the story.

In the story, Rachel Goldman is recently divorced and recovering from a marriage that basically drifted apart – they just quit talking. Rachel decides to “find herself” and quits her seemingly lame job to start a blog about learning how to cook. The characters that surround her are hysterical and well developed and left me wishing we knew more about them.

It’s fun to read about her life as a blogger – the feeling she gets from discovering her readers and reading their feedback (on her life as well as her cooking). I totally relate.

She finds a handsome new guy and – well, it goes on from there (yep, you have to read the book! Ha ha).

It’s a short, quick read – and my FIRST electronic book (isn’t that weird, but I still LOVE paper books – I love the feel). But I really found this to be a “page turner” (ha ha, since they were electronic pages) and a really easy read.
