It’s funny, I was typing the title of this post when I realized it actually applies to both pictures (totally unrelated subjects). The photo below I found on the camera when I went to take the bottom photo. It’s my son in his “show” at the end of a couple of months of improvisational acting classes. Think he enjoys it? (ha ha)
What relates to the title is I (at one point in my younger stupid days) made a comment that I would NEVER have a child be an actor or model – that it was horrible on the ego and impossible to believe that it would be something the CHILD would choose and not the parent. And then I had Matey Moo. My God, that child LOVES the stage. Not likes, but really really loves. He adores movies and memorizes (usually in one sitting) all the lines to a scene with ease. He adores an audience and doesn’t appear to have one slight tendency toward stage fright (see reference picture above). Well, we’ll probably lean toward local theatre or something innocent, but unless his entire direction changes (he carried around DVD covers as a 2 year old) we’ll probably have to deal with this at some point. Never say never, eh?
The bottom is what I’ve been working on. Hysterically this is a UFO from my Jr. High days (I will NOT admit to how long ago that was!). It is VERY 1970’s and done with crewel embroidery thread – which turns out to be 100% wool yarn that no one carries anymore. Why is this an issue? Well, despite carefully keeping the colors seperated in baggies with the numbers for the pattern in it – I must have used all of one of the green colors at some point. Sigh. So, I have to find one slightly different green color to finish this. I’m a long way from finished – but it may take me a while to find the missing thread. Who knew? Maybe I thought I’d never finish it…or I figured I’d never miss it and be able to finish it anyway? Geez.
Ironically, I still sort of like the pattern (what’s not to like about plants in a window) and it’s sort of fun that it’s the first thing I ever really tackled – honestly some of the stitches aren’t even that bad! So, anyone have some extra crewel yarn out there? Or know of a great source?
Oooo, and speaking of sources, check out my latest post on the Examiner if you’re a knitter in Denver (or might come through here). I’ve come up with an editorial schedule that – again if you’re in the Denver area – you’re going to want to bookmark me!
