Dolls, stitching (or lack therof) and some newsy stuff.

Where does the time go seems to be my theme right now. Aren’t these dolls cute? I really do think I may try to make one or two of them!

I wish I could say I was mired in a flurry of activity, but frankly it’s been pretty lame. I’ve been finishing up some web jobs…starting some new ones and participating with the Rocky mountain Crazy Quilters (thanks to the Southern Cross Crazies, we have postponed the deadline on the postcard swap! Hooray!).

Last weekend we had a great Crazy Quilting meeting…the morning was a class on decorating Christmas ornaments that we are going to sell. I had fun doing some beading – when one is done I’ll post a photo.

Then in the afternoon we worked on postcards. Everyone seemed to trade ideas, we all went out and got double sided fusible material for the inside (not going to use the brand name because we bought a knock-off!). I have to say, I wasn’t that fond of it. It gave it a VERY flat look. Frankly if a postcard is going to be fabric, seems to me it should look like fabric, but I’m weird that way! 🙂

I also found out our new (well they’ve been there almost a year now) neighbor has gone 1/2 time on her job to become an artist and so has a group she meets with that are all artists (she’s a painter) and they are trying to network, encourage each other, etc! Also, a new gallery is opening up in one of our art districts dedicated to fiber art. SO….I think I may try to finish a few large pieces and see what happens.

We also spent yesterday working on our yard – I’m going to post to our Houseblog in a bit about this – so that took up some time.

We all seem to have a spring cold that just hangs on indefinately. For a few of us it’s complicated with allergies, but whine, whine! Rex and I went out last night for his birthday and basically “bar-hopped”. We went to a Mongolian restaurant..his choice and we both agreed kind of lame! Then we hit several bars around “LoDo” (the really cute name for our lower downtown) including my favorite jazz bar where more famous people have been than anywhere I know! However, in the end we both decided our own little trendy neighborhood had more to offer, so in the end, ended up back there.

On the craft/fiber art front, this morning should be better. I’m attending my first get together of a weekly neighborhood stitching group (any stitchin allowed). Childcare provided for a nominal fee, so it seems perfect. Rex is actually home today recuperating, but I figure he’d enjoy a little “family free” time, so I’ll take the kids with me. In this neighborhood, the worst thing is that most other moms have babies, so be interesting to see if the kids are bored stiff in 20 mins!
